Working from home can be very rewarding and worth the time and effort. It can allow mothers to both bring in some extra money and be home with their families. That does not mean that there are no potential pitfalls related to working at home, though. If you know what these are, then you can be ready to deal with them when they happen. Which of the pitfalls of working from home you experience will depend you and your situation but the most likely problems include the following:
1. Trouble Balancing Everything - A lot of work at home moms find it hard at first to balance their work and family lives. If they are putting too much time into one, they feel like they are neglecting the other. It is hard to figure out what sort of balance will work for a woman and her family.
2. Feeling Isolated - Working from home can make a person feel isolated and alone, which is difficult for many WAHMs to deal with.
3. Feeling Guilty - Most women start working from home in order to be with their families. When they realize how much time their business is taking from their family, they may feel guilty. Many moms have to deal with business calls and a screaming child at the same time, which means making choices. Even though they are at home, work at home moms may feel guilty about being so busy with their business.
4. Feeling Unprofessional - It may be hard to conduct business in a professional manner from home if you have a family. Quiet time for those important phone calls is going to be hard to find and no one wants to be thought of as unprofessional.
5. Doing to Much - It is hard to know when to quit working when you are working from home. A lot of work at home moms find they are working too much for this reason. This can take a toll on them if they are not careful. That is why everyone who works from home needs to know when to quit and take time to relax and rest.
6. Not Taking Care of Themselves - If you are working from home, it is tempting to get up and stay in your pajamas all day long. Why not? No one is going to see you. That is not a good idea, though. Women who are working from home need to make an effort to take care of their appearance so they don't develop low self-esteem.
Understanding all the pro's and con's can help you better make an educated decision. Working from home is not for everyone. Some people actually like the 9-5 job. Carefully consider everything you have read and choose whats best for you and your family.
