A lot of women today are deciding to remain at home with their family and work from home. Becoming a work-at-home mom or WAHM is great for some women but it isn't right for everyone. Perhaps you've been thinking about a business idea but you don't know where or how to go with it. Ask yourself the following questions. They can help you figure if you should proceed with your idea and how to go about it.

1. Can you afford to be a WAHM?

You won't be making a lot of money in the beginning so you and your family will have to get by on one income. It's important to look carefully at your budget and see if that is going to work before you quit your job. Be informed about all business start up costs and extra expenses associated with a new business.

2. Becoming a WAHM is realistic and something you can do. Are you willing to put in the necessary time and preparation?

It isn't as easy as you may think. Are you going to have the time available to invest in your business? If you're going to be on the phone a lot, will your home be quiet enough for you to do this? Do you have a computer and an office area you can work in? These are important things to consider.

3. How are you going to take care of your kids?

What will you do with your children while your working in your home office. If they don't go to school, who's going to watch them when you need to focus on your business? If your children do go to school, will your WAHM schedule allow you the time to take care of them before and after school? What about when they're on summer vacation or off school for other reasons?

4. Is this a good time for change?

Making the transition to becoming a work a home mom may not be easy. There are many ajustments to think about and consider. Your children and spouse will also have to adjust. You have to be sure that you'll be able to handle being a WAHM. Many mothers want to be a WAHM to spend more time with loved one's. Based on which opporutnity you choose, you may not always come out with alot of extra time on your hands. How will you handle that?
